The Juara Turtle Hatchery, Pulau Tioman

A Jungle Trek to a Hidden Tropical Paradise

Tucked behind Salang Village on the west coast of Pulau Tioman, Monkey Bay is one of the island’s most beautiful and secluded beaches. This wide, sweeping bay features soft white sand, calm crystal-clear waters, and dense rainforest surrounding the shoreline — creating a postcard-perfect tropical escape.

Part of the magic lies in the journey. Reaching Monkey Bay requires a jungle hike, turning the trip into a light adventure instead of just a normal beach outing. Along the way, hikers encounter lush greenery, glimpses of the coastline, and the soothing sounds of the forest. Arriving at the bay feels especially rewarding — a quiet, untouched oasis hidden from the crowds.

Once you’re there, the calm, sheltered waters are ideal for snorkelling, with colourful marine life visible just beneath the surface. Do keep an eye on your belongings though — the bay is home to curious monkeys often seen watching from the trees.

Monkey Bay is perfect for travellers who enjoy mixing light trekking with island relaxation. Whether you’re hiking in, swimming offshore, or simply enjoying the peaceful scenery, it showcases Tioman’s wild and untouched side.
