Standing gracefully amid peaceful grounds in the heart of Seremban, the Church of the Visitation is one of the town’s most significant historical landmarks. Established in 1848, it is the first French missionary church in the area, quietly witnessing over 150 years of local history, devotion, and community life.
Set on two acres of serene land, the church features elegant Neo-Catholic and Neo-Gothic architectural details, giving it a timeless presence. Inside the main hall, soft light filters through stained glass windows, while intricate mosaics adorn the interior — creating a calming atmosphere ideal for reflection and worship.
The church’s story is equally captivating. Founded by Fr. Pierre Favre and first housed in a modest attap chapel built by Fr. Hector Letessier, the permanent structure was completed between 1883 and 1885 and dedicated to the Lady of the Visitation. Over the years, several expansions — in 1899, 1935, 1985, and 2009 — added the Visitation Hall, Parochial House, and Formation Centres that continue to support the church community today.
