“…The award-winning Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower) is located at the peak of Bukit Nanas, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Standing at 421 metres, it is the tallest tower in Southeast Asia and the seventh tallest telecommunication tower in the world. As one of the most iconic landmarks in Malaysia’s capital city, KL Tower offers a remarkable blend of culture, adventure, and nature.”
Background History of Kl Tower
Opened to the public in July 1996, this architectural marvel is built atop the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve—the oldest gazetted forest reserve in Malaysia, home to ancient trees and tropical flora and fauna that thrive in Malaysia’s humid rainforest climate.
The tower’s design is heavily influenced by Islamic architecture, showcasing elements such as Arabic calligraphy, geometric tiles, and elegant Islamic motifs that reflect Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.
KL Tower features two main viewing platforms:
- Observation Deck (276m): An indoor viewing area offering panoramic views of the bustling city.
- Sky Deck (300m): An outdoor platform providing an even more breathtaking vantage point.
For thrill-seekers, the Sky Box—a glass cube extending from the Sky Deck—offers a heart-pounding experience with transparent walls and floors for a full view of the skyline beneath your feet.
After taking in the spectacular scenery, visitors can enjoy a memorable dining experience at Atmosphere 360, a revolving restaurant perched 282 metres above the ground.
Another highlight is the KL Forest Eco Park, one of Malaysia’s oldest permanent forest reserves since 1906. This green sanctuary features indigenous plants, nature trails, campsites, gazebos, and a 200-metre Canopy Walk, suspended 21 metres above the forest floor. Families can also explore nearby attractions such as the Mini Zoo, KL Upside Down House, and Blue Coral Aquarium
