KL Bird Park – A Colorful Paradise for Nature Lovers

Opened in November 1991, the Kuala Lumpur (KL) Bird Park is one of Malaysia’s premier ecotourism destinations. Home to an incredible collection of 3,000 vibrant birds from over 200 species, both local and exotic, the park spans 20.9 acres of lush greenery, adjacent to the tranquil Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens.

The KL Bird Park is famous for its free-flight concept, touted as the largest walk-in free-flight aviary in the world. Here, visitors can enjoy the rare experience of being surrounded by birds flying freely throughout the park. The combination of free-flight aviaries and abundant greenery also provides ideal nesting grounds, making the park a conducive breeding habitat for its feathered residents.

The park is divided into four zones:

Zones 1 & 2: Free-flight aviary sections
Zone 3: Home to majestic hornbills
Zone 4: A walk-in mini aviary featuring 20 parrot species, including lories, cockatoos, macaws, and parakeets

Bird enthusiasts can enjoy a range of activities, such as photography sessions with the birds and feeding experiences with species like ostriches, hornbills, and eagles. Be sure to catch the bird shows at the Amphitheatre, held daily at 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm.

The KL Bird Park also hosts a variety of programmes and packages for schools, birthdays, seminars, family days, and even pre-wedding photography sessions.

For dining, the Hornbill Restaurant & Café offers a rustic experience surrounded by lush greenery. If you’re lucky, a rhinoceros hornbill or other feathered friends might join you during your meal!
